Playwright Martin Zimmerman Wins Terrence McNally New Play Award

Martin Zimmerman (M.F.A., 2010) has been announced as the winner of the Terrance McNally New Play Award for his play Let Me Count The Ways. The Terrence McNally New Play Award is a cash prize given annually to recognize a new play that celebrates the transformative power of art.

Southwest watercolor artist Jan Wright (B.F.A., 1970), exhibits for the sixth year at Far View Lodge at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. Jan was an Artist in Residence at Mesa Verde in 2012 and now coordinates the program, volunteering over 300 hours a year to make artists who visit have as great an experience artistically as she did.

Robert Schenkkan's "All The Way" Receives Two Tony Nominations

Steve Moore's “Computer Simulation of the Ocean”

Steve Moore's (M.F.A. Playwriting, 2005) new play, “Computer Simulation of the Ocean”, does not have a physical venue, rather, it is experienced entirely through a text message subscription that lasts six months. The text messages come from Sally Boyd, a fictional character. The public will begin receiving messages on April 18 at the beginning of the Fusebox Festival.

Jennifer Chenoweth Creates 3-D Emotional Map of Austin

Jennifer Chenoweth's (M.F.A., 1999) collaborative project, "Hedonic Map of Austin," is a 3-D interactive display that maps emotional experiences throughout Austin. The installment is being displayed in the southeast entrance of the Seay Building for psychology from now until August.
