Jo Ann Chapman Receives Recognition

Jo Ann Champion (B.M. Music and Human Learning, 2000) was selected as recipient of a Texas Music Educators Association Graduate Scholarship for 2014, and was selected in May as recipient of the Texas Music Educators Association Pat McNallen Scholarship for graduate study. In addition, Champion was one of 98 students at Stephen F. Austin State University nominated by the Faculty Council to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.

Adam Crosson Wins 2014 Umlauf Prize

Adam Crosson (M.F.A. candidate in Studio Art) received the 2014 Umlauf Prize. Crosson was selected by Juror Suzanne Deal Booth and was awarded an exhibition at the Umlauf. Intermodal will be on display September 5 through October 19 alongside Reflect, an exhibition of works by Professor Margo Sawyer.

Dan Duling's Continued Playwright Success

Dan Duling (Ph.D. Playwriting and Criticism, 1977) just closed "The Art
Detective," at the 2014 Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach, CA. This was Duling's 34th year as scriptwriter for this world-renowned theatrical celebration of art in tableaux vivants. Blending live narration, an orchestra playing original music composed for each "living picture," and state-of-the-art stage illusions, the Pageant of the Masters is an 81-year-old theatrical phenomenon.

Quinton Morris Tenured at Seattle University

Quinton Morris (D.M.A. Strings, 2008) received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Seattle University. He is the first music professor in 28 years at Seattle University and the second living African-American violinist in the United States history to receive this honor.
