Meet the new faculty members in the College of Fine Arts for 2026–27

Assistant Professor
Department of Art and Art History
Anderson is an interdisciplinary artist, writer and curator working across sculpture, installation, digital media and fiction. Her research examines technology as a shifting historical category through which systems of knowledge, perception and social organization are both structured and destabilized. She is drawn to moments when established distinctions become unstable and new forms of meaning emerge, approaching the present as a condition in which artifact and organism, inherited histories and speculative futures begin to overlap. Anderson has presented solo exhibitions at Oregon Contemporary, the Ohio State University Farmer Family Gallery, OTOT Studios and the Neon Heater Gallery, among others. She holds an M.F.A. in Art and Technology from the University of Oregon and a B.F.A. in Fine Arts with a certificate in Critical Visions from the University of Cincinnati.

Assistant Professor of Practice 
Department of Design
Begnaud is a multidisciplinary designer whose work spans toys, games and interactive objects, centering on collaborative design, play and embodied learning. Through product design and participatory design research, she partners with young people to explore how embodied, playful design experiences can cultivate creativity, agency and joyful resilience. She holds a master's in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and a B.A. in Anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin.

Assistant Professor
Department of Art and Art History
Burr is an artist who transforms complex computational systems into emotional, sensory experiences through large-scale immersive environments. Drawing from early experiments with computational graphics during the mid-1990s, Burr's practice has evolved to incorporate techniques that merge fundamental computing operations with modern real-time rendering systems. His work frequently explores the relationship between human-machine interfaces and the underlying systems that drive them. His work has been presented at major cultural institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, The Barbican Centre, Documenta 14, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Centre Pompidou. He holds a Ph.D. in game design from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.

Assistant Professor of Practice 
Department of Arts and Entertainment Technologies
Dimick is an artist and an award-winning independent animator whose animated short films have been screened in film festivals worldwide. His practice spans painting, drawing, animation, and new media performance. He holds an M.F.A. in Film, Video, New Media and Animation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a B.A. in Graphic Arts from the University of Northern Colorado. Dimick previously taught in the department as an adjunct faculty member.

Klein is a printmaker whose prints combine the aesthetics of accumulation and biting humor to explore consumer culture and class politics in the “post-truth era.” Klein’s work harnesses the reproducible nature of printmaking to visually depict information entropy in infinite replication. She was recently the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Colgate University. Klein holds an M.F.A. in printmaking from the University of Iowa and a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with a focus in printmaking and fiber material studies. 
 

Assistant Professor of Practice 
Department of Design
Law is a graphic designer, educator and letterpress printer whose academic research combines analog print and digital technologies in graphic design courses to improve student learning outcomes. Law’s current body of work applies design principles, type, printmaking methods, modern fabrication equipment and design software to establish a visual language system. She holds an M.A. and M.F.A. in Graphic Design from the University of Iowa, with a secondary area emphasis in Printmaking, and she holds a Graduate Certificate in Book Arts and Book Technologies from the University of Iowa Center for the Book (UICB). Law previously taught in the department as an adjunct faculty member.

Associate Professor

Maratsos is an art historian who specializes in Italian Renaissance art, with an emphasis on intermedial exchange, religious practice, and issues of gender and the body. She will be the Fellow to the Kay Fortson Chair in European Art. She is the author of Pontormo and the Art of Devotion in Renaissance Italy (CUP, 2021), and her current research examines the role of relics as objects of transnational mobility and transformative materiality in the early modern era. She has previously taught at Cambridge University, the American University of Paris, Columbia University and Harvard University. She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University.

Murray is an experienced writer, storyteller and educator focused on interdisciplinary storytelling, the history of ideas, and creating meaningful classroom experiences. In addition to teaching, she has worked as a curriculum writer, a teacher-trainer, and as a freelance writer and editor for various websites and apps, mostly centered on design and education. She holds an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Arizona State University, where she focused on critical literary theory and intellectual history as they intersect with the fine arts. Murray previously taught in the department as an adjunct faculty member.

Ozley is a composer and arranger whose work spans a wide range of media, from chamber ensembles to interactive electronic systems, with a focus on nonlinear narrative, perception and sonic exploration. He teaches courses in audio processing, generative audio programming and interactive music, emphasizing collaborative, project-based learning grounded in professional creative practice. He received M.M. and D.M.A. degrees in Music Composition from The University of Texas at Austin. Ozley previously taught in the department as an adjunct faculty member.

Associate Professor
Butler School of Music
Petrova is an internationally acclaimed pianist, educator and arts leader who has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras across Europe and the United States, including the Virginia Symphony, Monterey Symphony, Manhattan Chamber Sinfonia, Louisville Orchestra, the Iași and Timișoara Philharmonics, Valencia Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of Wallonia and major orchestras in her native Bulgaria. She has been the recipient of top honors and awards at numerous competitions internationally, including the Queen Elisabeth and José Roca competitions, MAW Alumni Enterprise Award and the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, among others. Most recently, Petrova taught at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, and she also serves as the co-artistic director of ATX Chamber Music and Jazz. She holds bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from the Manhattan School of Music.
