James Jeter Joins Faculty at the 92nd Street Y

James Jeter, (B.M. 1971) bassoon, has been invited to join the Chamber Music Coaching faculty at the 92nd Street Y here in NYC. He continues to perform principal bassoon with the New Jersey Festival Orchestra and various orchestras in the NY/NJ area.

Michael Seiben is the Artist-In-Residence at VAC

Michael Seiben (B.F.A., 1999) is the Visual Art Center's artist-in-residence this spring. His exhibition, It Will Happen Again, "explores the line between youth and growing up and trying to hang on to youthful imagination". The show is on view at the VAC until May 10.

Leslie Wilkes' gouaches on display at McMurtrey Gallery Houston

Leslie Wilkes' (BA Studio, 1989) exhibition Squared is currently on display at the McMurtrey Gallery in Houston until January 11. These gouache paintings originate from geometric patterns. Wilkes' purpose is to create a dynamic, sight-based sensory experience.

Alan Hicks joins Green Mountain Opera Festival

Butler School of Music Alum, Alan E. Hicks (D.M.A., 2009) has been appointed Director of the Emerging Artist Program for the Green Mountain Opera Festival for the 2014 season and stage director for The Rape of Lucretia for the 2014 Festival season. In May of 2014, Alan will direct The Turn of the Screw for the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.

Alumna Natalia Anciso featured in solo exhibition in San Francisco

Natalia Anciso, MFA (BA, Studio Art, 2008), will have a solo exhibition at San Francisco's Galeria de la Raza titled "Studio 24 Presents: Natalia Anciso." She will be the third artist in the "Studio 24 Presents" series, following in the footsteps of established artists, Rio Yanez and Viviana Paredes. In addition, her work will be featured prominently on Galería’s Bryant Street 10 ft. x 24 ft. billboard. Much of this exhibition will focus on her experiences as well as histories of her native Rio Grande Valley. The Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 7pm and will run until February 14, 2014.
