After completing a paid internship at an arts organization at The University of Texas at Austin, the seven undergraduate Fine Arts students selected for the 2024 Arts Administration Fellows program will move into a second paid internship supporting arts organizations in the Austin community this summer.

In the spring 2024, the College of Fine Arts’ Office of Community Engagement and Public Practice and the Center for Creative Economies partnered to launch the Arts Administration Fellowship. The competitive, two-year fellowship was created to support paid internships for students enrolled in one of college’s undergraduate majors who are also working toward a Minor in Arts Management and Administration. During summer 2024 the four inaugural fellows received a fully funded internship with a University of Texas arts organization along with professional development programming that helped them make the most of their internship.

The inaugural cohort of Arts Administrations Fellows included the following students.

  • SoJo González, a Composition student, interned at Landmarks, the public art program at The University of Texas, where she worked on programming and education.
  • Dariela Hernández, an Arts and Entertainment Technologies student, interned at the Benson Latin American Collection, where she worked on collections installment and exhibition displays.
  • Jake Murphy, a Composition student, interned at Art Galleries at Black Studies, where he worked on collections operation management and administration management.
  • Stacy Nguyen, a Studio Art student, worked as an artistic curatorial research associate at the Visual Arts Center, where her responsibilities included research, curation and gallery management.
  • Shalom Onuorah, an Acting student, interned at Texas Performing Arts, where she worked on projects related to development administration, arts education, community engagement and business office administration.
  • Kseniya Portnaya, an Art History student, interned at the Harry Ransom Center, where she supported development operations and the membership program.
  • Immanuel Thomas, a Theatre and Dance student, interned at Texas Performing Arts, where he worked on projects related to development administration, arts education, community engagement and business office administration.

This summer, the inaugural cohort will receive additional professional experience through a second paid internship with an Austin-based arts organization.

Applications for the summer 2025 fellowship cohort will open Jan. 6 and are due by Feb. 17.
