Serving as a theoretical prelude to the March 28 symposium, this seminar offers sustained engagement with questions of tradition and materiality. Through selected readings, participants will examine critical frameworks shaping contemporary discourse.

The seminar, comprising a morning and an afternoon session, will be facilitated by two leading scholars of contemporary Chinese art, Peggy Wang (Bowdoin College) and Orianna Cacchione (University of Richmond Museums). Readings will be circulated in advance.
