Introduction to Grant Writing with David McMichael

SHARE

Join FACS and guest David McMichael to learn all about how to use grants and funding to your advantage as a student and beyond. We will discuss exciting funding opportunities and how to present your case to get that funding.   David McMichael cut his fundraising teeth running the grants program at Austin’s Paramount Theatre from 2016-21 — now he writes multi-million-dollar presidential proposals for UT’s What Starts Here campaign. On the passion project front, David co-founded and runs fundraising for local film non-profit Hyperreal Film Club. This to say: he’s got lots of experience writing proposals to fund projects from $500 all the way up to +$20m.

In this workshop, we’ll talk through:

-an overview of the three primary sources of artist grant funding

— foundation, corporate, and government

-one of the most important tools for individual artists pursuing grant funding

— fiscal sponsorship

-some tips on putting together your narrative, budget, and supplementary materials

-how to find opportunities and when to apply

Please fill out the survey with your questions and interests, and David McMichael will address them during his talk.
