Martin Rodriguez (B.F.A., Theatre Studies, 2015) was recently hired by Los Angeles Unified School District as head drama teacher at newly founded charter high school, Hawkins High School to create and develop their drama/theatre program. He is now certified and holds a teaching credential in English and Theatre Arts in California to go along with his Texas credentials.

Joan Schubert (B.M., Applied Music/Performance, 1982) recently released her first CD of jazz standards “Our Favorite Things” featuring Schubert, flute, and Bryon Dahl, guitar. She also has released a video of her original tune, “Joan's Blues,” dedicated to one of her jazz teachers.

Prominent national and international art dealers and galleries will exhibit a range of works by modern and contemporary artists at the sixth annual Dallas Art Fair on April 15-17. Rachel Lee Hovnanian (B.F.A., Studio Art, 1982) will be presenting Perfect Baby Showroom as the solo feature of New York and Dubai based exhibitor, Leila Heller Gallery.

Eric Kayne (B.A., Studio Art, 1998) is the recipient of the 2016 Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship at the Houston Center for Photography. The fellowship includes a solo exhibition juried by Maggie Blanchard, director of Twin Palms Publishing. The exhibition is on view from May 13 to July 10.

Award-winning voice-over artist, voice-over trainer and voice talent demo producer Lainie Frasier (B.F.A., Theatrical Design, 1979) began teaching a voice-over course at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas as an adjunct instructor in spring 2016. In 2005 she co-authored a college textbook for McGraw-Hill entitled “Speak Skillfully and Successfully:  A Guide to Developing Diction and Voice-Over Excellence."

"Sum You Some Me," a two-person exhibition featuring spouses Felice House (M.F.A., Studio Art, 2011) and Dana Younger (B.A., Drama, 1995) is currently on display Aquinas College's Art and Music Center Gallery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. See it Jan. 17 through Feb. 12. 

The documentary "Parallelograms" by Steven Rowell (B.A., Studio Art, 1992) premiered on Feb. 3, at transmediale 2016 in Berlin as an installation featuring a video loop of the 32-minute film with a synchonized map video.

Jonas Criscoe (B.F.A., Studio Art, 2006) has work featured in The Oil & Gas Show at Level Gallery in Dallas, Texas. The exhibition "aims to expose the intricacies and complexities of the varying perspectives on the industry." It is on view through Feb. 28.

The National Art Education Association named Shaun Lane (B.F.A., Visual Arts Studies, 2014) the 2016 recipient of the New Professional Art Education Award. The award is presented to outstanding new teachers. Lane currently teaches Ceramics, Sculpture and Art 1 at Eatsview High School in Georgetown, Texas. He will be recognized during the association's conference in March in Chicago.

Austin-based Teatro Vivo will produce “The Stories of Us,” a play written by Jelisa Jay Robinson (B.A., Theatre and Dance, 2014). The theater described the “The Stories of Us” as a collection of stories that dig deep into the intercultural conflict between African Americans and Latinos, African diaspora identity, and Afrolatinidad. It is scheduled for a three-week run in April.
