Executive Assistant to the Dean

Jacqueline (Jackie) Tamayo (she/her) is the Executive Assistant to Dean Ramón Rivera-Servera. Some of the duties she assists with include: meeting requests and calendar management, special projects and event coordination, and working collaboratively with our Deans Office Receptionist, Britt Sanchez, to ensure the needs of our students, visitors, and guests are met.

Jackie graduated from UT Austin in 2011 with a BA in Psychology and Sociology—it was during this time that she, quite ironically, was a work study for COFA in the Department of Theatre and Dance. Following graduation, she spent 7 1/2 years with the Texas Attorney Generals Office, starting out as a file clerk in the Child Support Division and working her way up to Office Manager of the Consumer Protection Division. Craving a change, she made the leap to higher education in 2019 when she joined St Edward’s University as an Administrative Coordinator and, later, as the Assistant to the Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities.

A native of the culturally vibrant Rio Grande Valley and herself the daughter of a musician, Jackie grew up in an environment steeped in music, art, and tradition. It is this lived experience that led Jackie back to COFA. She is absolutely elated to be back on campus as part of such a talented and dedicated team.

In her free time, you can find Jackie thrifting for vintage clothing, teaching herself how to play the cajón, or in a mosh pit (it’s amazing stress relief!).
