Andrea Christie

Associate Academic Advisor for Design

Andrea Christie is an artist and educator with 20 years of experience in art, design, and education. She joined the UT Austin community in 2023 as the Academic Advisor for the Department of Design in the School of Design and Creative Technologies. Andrea received her M.F.A. in Ceramics from Tulane University and her B.F.A. in Ceramics from Indiana University. Her work is featured in several publications and books, including, most recently, Uppercase Magazine’s Design Encyclopedia: Vintage Life. Her functional ceramics have been exhibited nationally in museums and galleries and can be found in the homes of private collectors around the world. 

Andrea has been a fine arts faculty member teaching ceramics and 3-D Design at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, Tulane University in New Orleans, and the Contemporary Austin’s Art School at Laguna Gloria. In her free time, you will find Andrea practicing yoga, going out to see live music, or scheming up her next creative project. An Indiana native, she now lives and works in Austin, Texas, with her family and a menagerie of pets and musical instruments.
