Dance alumnus heads to New York to pursue dance career

When Johnny Chatman II left Austin last spring, he already had accepted invitations to join three dance companies. He’s currently living in New York and recently performed as a solo dancer at the U.S. Open as part of a social media campaign for Lavazza.  We caught up with him recently to ask about his experience in the Dance program and how it led him to his current career pathway.

As design claims a seat at the table in industries such as business, health care, computer science and customer service, the College of Fine Arts is adapting to meet demand. It expects to double or
triple enrollment in the Department of Art and Art History’s undergraduate design programs over the next three to five years. The year-old Design Institute for Health,
a joint venture with the Dell Medical School, is using
 design methodology to revolutionize the way health care 
is delivered, and the newly launched Center for Integrated Design brings together faculty and administrators from seven colleges and programs at UT to foster opportunities for cross-disciplinary learning and collaboration through of design thinking.

The 2016-17 school year is officially underway, so the College of Fine Arts checked in with students and faculty who took full advantage of the time off. Instead of sitting poolside, these folks used the time away from campus to embark on journeys, internships and share their talents.
