COFA Communications Internship Fall 2019

The College of Fine Arts is a comprehensive arts college that includes the Department of Art and Art History, the Department of Theatre and Dance, the School of Design and Creative Technologies and the Butler School of Music. We also encompass Texas Performing Arts and Landmarks, UT’s public art program. Our faculty, students and staff are engaged in thoughtful, creative and interesting endeavors everyday; help us tell their stories!

Job duties

1. Social media: Research and draft original content and share existing posts through our channels: Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Compile social media analytics for our monthly reports. 

2. Writing for the web: Conduct Q&As with our students and possibly staff members, via email or in-person, with potential to write short news pieces and/or essays.  

3. Additional items: Update alumni spotlights on our website. May assist with proofreading, transcribing interviews, work-related on-campus errands and other duties as needed.


-Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with many personalities. 

-Excellent organizational, analytical and research skills.

-Experience creating social media posts, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (bonus points if you have experience managing social accounts for an organization or business).

-Basic to intermediate photography skills, including basic usage of Photoshop or other photo editing software. (graphic design exp is a plus)

What we provide

You will have access to a Mac laptop, camera and work space. We will provide you with clear direction and expectations while also giving you the flexibility to use your creativity and the space to share ideas. We want you to learn new skills and grow your existing ones.

You will probably like this job if:

You love social media and are curious about stories in the College of Fine Arts. You have an eye for detail and abhor spelling and grammar errors. You enjoy talking to people and love creating engaging stories and posts to share. 

Pay: $12/hr

Hours: Position is for 10 hours per week. We will work around your class schedule, but we prefer that time to be in 3-4 hour blocks if possible, with potential for after-hours event work (not req’d)

Attire: Since you will be interacting with staff, students and faculty as a representative of the Dean’s office, we request business attire. 

Start date: As early as Sept 16th, 2019
