Applying to Graduate: Deadlines and Procedures

Apply to graduate for the spring 2016 semester in DFA 1.103 between January 19 and April 4.

How do Fine Arts student apply to graduate?

  • If you are currently enrolled:
    • you apply to graduate during the semester you wish to graduate.
    • you will receive instructions via Secure Academic Notice at the beginning of the semester.
      • If you don’t receive this SAN, we don’t know you plan to graduate this semester! Contact us!
    • you can review your degree audit at IDA: Interactive Degree Audit
    • you graduate only if all your degree, residency, GPA and departmental requirements are completed at the end of the semester.
  • If you are NOT currently enrolled:
    • you are an in absentia student (this means you are not enrolled at the university when you graduate).
    • contact Student Affairs (512-471-5011) to discuss the in absentia graduation process.
    • you apply to graduate in absentia during the semester you wish to graduate.
    • you graduate only if all your degree, residency, GPA and departmental requirements are completed at the end of the semester.

 

College of Fine Arts Spring 2016 Commencement

Date: Friday, May 20, 2016

Time: 3:00-4:30 PM (auditorium doors open at 2:30)

Location: Bass Concert Hall | 2350 Robert Dedman Dr. Austin, TX 78712  

Tickets: Guests DO NOT need tickets to attend the ceremony. There is no limit to how many guests a student may invite.

Parking: The day of Commencement, all parking garages and surfaces lots on campus (excluding those marked "Reserved At All Times") are free and open to the public. The nearest parking garages are the Manor Road Garage and the San Jacinto Garage.

Speaker: Alvin Rangel (M.F.A., Dance, 2012) will address the graduating class of 2016 at the ceremony.

Disability Services

Parking: Several handicapped parking spaces are located along the west side of Robert Dedman Drive immediately in front of Bass Concert Hall. In case the trip from parking to the venue is a challenge for a guest, there is a loading zone located in front of the venue on 23rd Street. Guests can be dropped off there (about 50 yards to the doors of venue). It is fine to leave your car parked there (with flashers on) and escort people into the venue then return to park your car.

Wheelchairs: For guests arriving in their own wheelchair, there is designated wheelchair seating on the Orchestra level of Bass Concert Hall with neighboring seats for other guests. Ushers can escort guests to this area when they arrive.

If guests require wheelchairs to help assist people with getting into the venue: You can borrow a wheelchair from Bass by going to Guest Services inside the venue and leaving your ID with the staff. You can use the wheelchair for helping someone get from a car to a seat in the venue ONLY. The wheelchair must then be returned to Guest Services. Wheelchairs can be borrowed after the ceremony as well.

This ceremony is only for students receiving undergraduate Fine Arts degrees. Students receiving a graduate degree in Fine Arts should contact the Office of Graduate Studies at 471-4511 for information about their ceremony.
