Lucy Amen Warner publishes first children’s book

Lucy Amen Warner (B.M., Music and Human Learning, 1975), Music Department chair at The Browning School in New York City, has just completed her first children's book Zap! Boom! Pow! Superheroes of Music. This new book for boys and girls ages 5-11, presents 12 famous composers as superheroes. It combines facts, a fun "superhero" element relating to each composer's life and music, and colorful illustrations. Published in December 2016, it has already reached thousands of children in public and private schools, homes and libraries.

Dan Kurland to join music staff of Germany’s Theater Hagen

Dan Kurland (B.M., Music Performance, 2010) graduated in May with a D.M.A. in collaborative piano studies from The Juilliard School and will join the music staff of Theater Hagen in Hagen, Germany, in August. Over the summer, he will perform at the Aspen Music Festival and with Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance Program.

Henry Smith (B.F.A., Studio Art, 2017) was named one of MASS Gallery's Hotbox resident artists, Aug. 7 to Sept. 9. The program features a series of multimedia installations and performances.

Andrew Sigler (D.M.A., Composition, 2014) has been appointed Assistant Professor of Music Composition at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Sigler served as Lecturer of Music Composition at Tennessee for three years prior to this appointment.
