Jonas Criscoe (B.F.A Studio Art, 2006) participated in The Contemporary Austin's Teen Artist + Mentor Program, which culminated this summer in the exhibition Special Blend. Collaboration is the foundation of this community arts initiative, in which ten professional artist-mentors work with ten exemplary high school students from the Austin area over seven months to create new work.

Martin McCain wins two Global Music Awards

Martin McCain recently won a Global Music Awards Gold Medal for the Best Instrumentalist category and a Bronze Medal for his second solo CD Shades. He was also featured in Billboard Magazine as an Emerging Artist earlier this year. Martin McCain is currently an Associate Professor of Trombone at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and actively performs as a solo, orchestral, chamber, and jazz/commercial musician.

Music Education, 2009) was recently selected as the newest member of the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio (YOSA) Board of Directors. YOSA has eight orchestras for young musicians to participate in, ranging from Prelude Strings at the entry level to the Philharmonic, comprised of the very best young instrumentalists in the greater San Antonio area.

Composition, 2004) was recently selected for promotion to the rank of Master Sergeant and will be assuming the role of Chief Arranger of The U.S. Army Field Band, where he has served as Staff Arranger since 2007. In addition, Hernandez continues to compose music for films, television, games and internet media.

Brian Heim (B.M. Composition, 2014) was awarded a 2015 Morton Gould Young Composer Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Selected from an application pool of more than 600 submissions, the 28 young composer winners were recognized at the annual ASCAP Concert Music Awards at Merkin Concert Hall in New York on May 21, 2015. The award-winning composers share prizes of over $45,000.
