Important text discovered at archeological site in Italy may shed light on Etruscan deities

Archaeologists working on the Mugello Valley Archaeological Project in Italy have discovered what may be a rare sacred text in the Etruscan language that is likely to yield rich details about Etruscan worship of a god or goddess. The project is co-directed by Dr. Michael Thomas, who is also director of the Center for the Study of Ancient Italy in the Department of Art and Art History.

Eighth Blackbird’s March tour stop of Hand Eye at McCullough Theatre was described by the Austin American-Statesman as “surprising, energetic and engaging work.” The evening-length piece was composed in part by Robert Honstein (M.M., Composition, 2007), and visual elements were co-commissioned by Texas Performing Arts.
